The Daily: Kane Throws Cold Water on Return to Blackhawks

Published

on

It seems Chicago Blackhawks fans hoping for a reunion with Patrick Kane can cross that off of their offseason wishlist. Following the New York Rangers ouster at the hands of the New Jersey Devils, Kane was specifically asked about a potential return to the Blackhawks.

His answer was to the point.

Kane can’t be blamed for his response. The trade to New York was supposed to be a hard run at a Stanley Cup. Instead, it was a disappointing seven-game loss to bitter rival New Jersey. A return to Chicago, then, seems even less likely. Had the Rangers snagged the silver chalice, and maybe if Chicago hit on the Bedard sweepstakes, maybe then there was a chance.

This scenario slims the chances further. Like Jonathan Toews, the chapter seems shut–just with different circumstances.

IceHogs Fall in Three to Texas

The Rockford IceHogs were close, but in the end just couldn’t eke enough out to stay alive. Texas dispatched the IceHogs 4-2, ending their season in a three game sweep. Lukas Reichel notched his first goal of the playoffs but it was far too late in the third.

Regardless, head coach Anders Sorensen and his staff continued fulfilling the organization’s goal of developing the talent for the long term, while producing a playoff caliber team in the AHL. It’s not a simple feat, and with an influx of talent on its way, Rockford will certainly have more opportunities to build on this year’s successes.
