The Daily: Dubas Can Talk with Pittsburgh; Panthers A Game Away

Published

on

So much for the he’ll only stay in Toronto thoughts. Kyle Dubas was given permission to speak with the Pittsburgh Penguins about its vacant position just days after he split with the Maple Leafs. This certainly makes for more interesting theater on a number of levels.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s Dan Kingerski writes that with Dubas entering the conversation, the GM search has been delayed. Unless Dubas asks for a Brinks truck, it seems a logical fit. With an aging core but one that still has some life to it, the 37-year-old can have some time to chart course for the Penguins. It comes without the added pressure in being in one of the most scrutinized markets with a 53-year Stanley Cup drought.

Panthers Shut Out Hurricanes, One Game From Final

The Sergei Bobrovsky dominance tour continues after a brilliant 32-save effort that clinched a 1-0 victory for the Panthers. Never mind that Sasha Barkov was injured in the first period and failed to return. Florida Hockey Now’s George Richards writes that Bobrovsky’s sparkling effort puts the Panthers on the verge of the their first Stanley Cup Final in 27 years while being done without Barkov for most of the game.
