The Daily: Flyers Shock With Ivan Provorov Trade

Published

on

Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Danny Briere didn’t take long to make his mark on the job. Aside from rumors flying about Carter Hart being dealt, Briere started by trading defenseman Ivan Provorov and was it ever a big one.

The Flyers got a haul. Philly Hockey Now’s Chuck Bausman Briere writes that the key to the deal was getting another first-round pick to add to its seventh overall pick.

Mission accomplished. But this could be the start of more as Bausman adds that Hart trade talks are underway. Montreal appears the front runner. Provorov is an exciting talent but one has to wonder if it’s a bit of an overpay.

The Flyers have been spinning their wheels for some time. Briere appears to be putting the wheels back into motion.
