Blackhawks Gameday #27: Third Time’s a Charm?

Published

on

The Blackhawks (9-16-1) are trying to get their third straight win after enjoying their first winning streak of the season after yesterday’s win. Tonight it’s the Washington Capitals and puck drop is at 6pm tonight.

Previously on Blackhawks Hockey:

The Blackhawks were all over the Blues last night, taking a 3-0 lead and putting them away 3-1 once the final horn sounded. It was another impressive night for Petr Mrazek who continues to be a brick wall in the net for Chicago. Louis Crevier picked up his first NHL point, while Alex Vlasic,  Jason Dickinson and Anthony Beauvillier tallied goals.

And now, a bit on the Capitals

The Capitals are currently 13-8-3 and sitting fourth in a competitive Metropolitan Division. Former Blackhawks center Dylan Strome has ten goals this season and is fourth on the team in points.

Miscellaneous Musings and Final Verdict

It was a reassuring thing to see the Blackhawks take care of business Saturday, showing a resolve that has eluded them most of the season. Things don’t get easier tonight on the latter side of a back-to-back with the Capitals being in town but it’s certainly another good test.

The Blackhawks have been seeing more consistent efforts with players but likely the biggest contribution has been coming from Dickinson, who continues to make the trade with Vancouver look more and more lopsided. Tonight’s challenge will have Arvid Soderblom in the net, giving Mrazek a break after what has been two dominant games that began in the latter of half of the 4-1 loss to Minnesota.

The Blackhawks have relied on a gritty effort to get things done and won in their last two. It’ll need to be the same recipe as they prepare for Washington tonight.
