Blackhawks Daily: Kurashev Shines For Swiss; Canes Still Alive
The Chicago Blackhawks have had some good moments with Philipp Kurashev. He continued those good moments with Team Switzerland Monday.
Their game on Monday against Czechia was a thriller. The two teams each scored a regulation goal and it went to overtime 1-1. With nothing going in the extra frame, the game reached a shootout.
Kevin Fiala scored in the shootout but it was responded Matej Stransky. Following that, Philipp Kurashev scored the game-winning shootout goal to give the Swiss a 2-1 victory. They are now 2-1-0-0 which is good for 8 points (IIHF rules) and first place in Group A.
Kurashev and team Swiss play next on Wednesday when they take on Great Britain. This team is good and has a chance to go on a run in the medal rounds.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs took place on Monday as well. The New York Rangers had a chance to eliminate the Carolina Hurricanes again but they failed.
With a 1-0 lead going into the third period, the Rangers allowed four straight goals so Carolina won 4-1. There will now be a Game Six in Raleigh. The pressure is starting to get to the Rangers.
The nightcap was Game Four between the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche. The Stars came in with a 2-1 series lead looking to put Colorado on the brink. Dallas did just that with their 5-1 victory over the Avalanche. Colorado Hockey Now chronicled the roster challenges the team had heading into the game. Now, they’re in a 3-1 hole.
Dallas will now head home with a chance to end Colorado’s season in game five. Dallas has been the better team so Colorado needs to dig deep if they want to extend the series.
Blackhawks In Case You Missed It
Would the Chicago Blackhawks trade out of pick 20 if it means Mitch Marner is coming to town?
Mackenzie Entwistle did a lot for himself in 2023-24 but did he do enough to secure a spot with the team?
Trading up from 20 to select Cole Eiserman would be great for the Chicago Blackhawks.
