Blackhawks Daily: Oilers Stay Alive; Barkov Wins 2nd Selke

The Edmonton Oilers stay alive in a loud way and the Selke winner is still very much in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
This year’s winner is Aleksander Barkov of the Florida Panthers. This is the second time in his career that he’s won it. He is one of the greatest defensive forwards of all time.
Now that six-time Selke Trophy winner Patrice Bergeron is retired, Barkov is going to come into every season as one of the front runners. It is for good reason because he is truly elite in all three zones. It doesn’t hurt for a great defensive forward to have some offensive flare to his game either. In 73 games played this season, Barkov had 23 goals and 57 assists for 80 points. Every team in the league would love to have this player.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs have one second-round series still going. That is the all-Canada series between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks were a pleasant surprise in the regular season and they have been an even bigger surprise in the playoffs. They came into game six with a 3-2 series lead and a chance to close out the Oilers. However, the Oilers kept cool and earned a big win to force game seven. All of the big boys showed up and they won 5-1 as a result.
Now, the top two teams from the Pacific Division will battle it out in a winner-take-all game seven that will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia. The winner will move on and face the Dallas Stars.
This has been one of the best series matchups in the entire playoffs. It is only fitting that they will need seven games to decide the winner. Expect a tight game where both sides have their very best.
