Blackhawks Daily: Rangers Tie Things Up; Davidson Makes a Trade

The Eastern Conference Finals continued on Friday night. It was game two at Madison Square Garden with the New York Rangers trailing the Florida Panthers in the series 1-0.

This second game went a little bit differently. Instead of the Panthers controlling play the way they wanted to the entire time, it was more even.

Vincent Trochek gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the game after Artemi Panarin, Alexis Lafreniere and Adam Fox made a great play that found Trochek on the back door.  Later on, Carer Verhaeghe scored a power-play goal for the Panthers to tie the game up. It had been a while since Florida scored on the man-advantage but they did it in this game.

Outside of those two goals, it was a complete goalie duel between Igor Shesterkin and Sergei Bobrovsky. That should be what you expect when two former Vezina winners face off in a playoff series.  Barclay Goodrow finally ended the game when he made a very nice shot to give the Rangers a win. The series is now tied up at one.

It will now shift to Florida for the first time in this series with it evened up at one win apiece. The Panthers will look to hang onto the home-ice advantage that they stole in game one but it won’t be easy.

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks made a deal that moved them up in both the first and second rounds by dealing away their 20th overall pick along with the 54th and 61st picks. With it still being a month out, it only adds to the intrigue of what will be done. But it certainly sets the stage for a crucial offseason for the Blackhawks.

Blackhawks In Case You Missed It

Connor Bedard is a generational superstar that the Chicago Blackhawks must find a way to build around.

The Chicago Blackhawks made a very interesting trade involving draft picks.

Andreas Athanasiou needs to be healthier in 2024-25. He is a great player.
