Blackhawks Daily: A Stanley Cup Final Loaded With Story Lines

Published

on

The Stanley Cup Final is set to begin on Saturday. The Edmonton Oilers are going to take on the Florida Panthers for an opportunity to hoist that Cup. This is a series loaded with incredible headlines.

For one, there is each team’s franchise history. The Edmonton Oilers are a team rich in history as they won five Cups in the ‘80s. They made it back in 2006 but were defeated by the Carolina Hurricanes. Since then, they had a lot of hardship but it helped them build a contender once again.  Connor McDavid is considered to be one of those all-time great players.

Then of course, there’s the storylines. There’s former Blackhawks forward Corey Perry, who after after being shuttled from Chicago in November is now playing in his fourth Stanley Cup Final in five years. The unusual end with the Blackhawks led to him arriving in Edmonton–and now playing for another Cup.

How about head coach Kris Knoblauch comparing their opponent’s “experience” to the Buffalo Bills many Super Bowl appearances–all of which ended without a championship.

As for the Florida Panthers, they featured their own array of great players in Sasha Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Sergei Bobrovsky, and Sam Reinhart. Tkachuk is back facing his old rival as a former member of the Calgary Flames.

The goaltenders create a great storyline as well. Stuart Skinner is looking to prove to everyone that he can play on a winning team and he is going to face Sergei Bobrovsky who is going to the Hall of Fame.

Whether you are new to hockey, a moderate fan, or a die-hard, this series is for you. It has so many things that will make it incredibly entertaining.

Blackhawks In Case You Missed It

The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to build a winning team. They should be going off of the path that Connor McDavid took to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Chicago Blackhawks need to practice patience as they build back to being a contender. This off-season is really important for that.
