Blackhawks Daily: Avoiding Patrick Kane A Missed Opportunity
The Chicago Blackhawks are not going to be bringing Patrick Kane back into the mix this summer. He is a free agent following what was a good year with the Detroit Red Wings.
He looked good once he got his legs going and seems to have few issues coming back from his hip surgery. Detroit just barely missed out on making it to the playoffs which makes their chances of bringing Kane back hard to predict.
There is no reason for the Blackhawks to avoid being one of the teams trying to bring him back. They are a young rebuilding team who could benefit from the franchise legend returning.

Kane plays a similar east-west game to Connor Bedard who the Blackhawks have been trying to make their franchise player for a long time. He has the talent to be one of the best players in the league.
They are going to bring in veterans along the way so shutting the door on Kane (who wanted to stay in Chicago) is not the smartest idea. Kyle Davidson is doing a great job as this team’s GM but this is a curious decision, especially since acquiring players in the trade rumor mill would cost far more than just inking Patrick Kane to a two-year deal as a free agent.
But as the old saying goes: To each his own.
Meanwhile, in the NHL, the Stanley Cup Final is finally headed back up North to Canada. This is the first time that Canada will host a Cup Final with fans in attendance since Vancouver did it in 2011.
Of course, Edmonton hosted the Stanley Cup Final in 2020 when the league played the playoffs in the bubble with no fans in attendance. This time around, there will be an insanely loud and rambunctious crowd.
The Edmonton Oilers are coming home trailing the Florida Panthers two games to none in the series and are banking on a surge from the partisan crowd.
Blackhawks In Case You Missed It
Sacha Boisvert is someone to consider drafting before he plays at North Dakota.
Drafting Artyom Levshunov is supported by the Florida Panthers strong play in the playoffs this year
Konsta Helenius could be a premier talent in the league–but could he slide to the Blackhawks?
Adam Jiricek is the latest potential prospect that the Blackhawks could consider at #18.
The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to build a winning team. They should be going off Connor McDavid’s path to the Stanley Cup Final.
Michael Hage, who starred for the Chicago Steel, continues to rocket up the draft board.
