Blackhawks Daily: Linus Ullmark Traded to Senators; Perry Loses Again

Published

on

The Stanley Cup Final ended on Monday night and a big trade landed as well now that the Boston Bruins have traded Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators. The Bruins earned a sizable return in the process which included a first-round pick. Following the biggest Game Seven in some time, the other games have begun.

The Florida Panthers won the Cup for the first time in franchise history with a 2-1 Game Seven victory over the Edmonton Oilers.Connor McDavid and the Oilers erased a 3-0 series deficit to force the game seven but came up short in the final game of the 2023-24 season.

Corey Perry was a loser in the Stanley Cup Final once again. That makes four losses in the last five seasons with four different teams (Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers). He did win the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007 but has only come that close since.

Of course, Perry was with the Chicago Blackhawks earlier in the season but he was let go due to off-ice misconduct. It sounds like he may run it back for one more season in 2024-25.

Now, the NHL can turn its attention to Vegas. The NHL Awards will take place on Thursday while the 2024 NHL Draft will begin on Friday at The Sphere. There, the Chicago Blackhawks will make the second overall pick which will be the first selection that has some intrigue to it (we know who the San Jose Sharks) are going to take first overall.

Let the games begin–especially if the Blackhawks have a trade or two up their sleeve to begin building around Bedard. Let the Linus Ullmark deal unleash an entertaining offseason.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks will find themselves linked to almost everything right now when it comes to trade rumors. The latest now involves Trevor Zegras-and would the Hawks want to bite?

Martin Necas is a good option for the Chicago Blackhawks on the trade market. He can help them become a better team in the short and long term.

Jett Luchanko of the Guelph Storm is one of many prospects that the Chicago Blackhawks can consider drafting with pick 18.
