Blackhawks Daily: Historic Hire in Seattle; Development Camp Updates
Happy Fourth of July! The Chicago Blackhawks and the rest of the NHL are seeing their prospects attend development camps across the league. It is a great way for players in the system and those just drafted last weekend to show off in front of management.
There are a lot of things worth figuring out for Chicago while this off-ice event takes place. For one, it is a chance for players to get to know each other and build relationships. There are also questions about where certain players will play next season.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Kraken made a bit of history on Wednesday. They officially announced the hiring of a new assistant coach in Jessica Campbell. She will be the first female behind-the-bench coach in NHL history.
Campbell was the first female assistant coach in the AHL last season with Seattle’s affiliate Coachella Valley. Now she makes NHL history as the first female assistant in NHL history.
