Blackhawks Daily: Big Milestone Year For Kane; Korchinski In AHL?

Published

on

The Chicago Blackhawks have a very good farm system. Some of these kids have already turned pro and some of them are still waiting for that opportunity. If the organization does this right long-term, they could have a contender on their hands.

Stacking up the 2024-25 Rockford Ice Hogs team may be a wise choice for Kyle Davidson and his staff. That may include Kevin Korchinski who played 76 games last year, his rookie season. At 19 years old, he showed flashes of being a brilliant offensive defenseman but his game needs work in his own end.

The development will come with time. That is why Korchinski getting an AHL job to start the season could be the best thing for him. Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times started this conversation with his roster projection for 2024-25. It makes all of the sense in the world.

With a guy like Artyom Levshunov getting ready to start in the AHL as well, Korchinski may be the perfect partner for him. These two are expected to be anchors on the blue line for a decade so it only makes sense to develop them together the right way.

Speaking of Chicago developing players the right way, this is expected to be a pretty big year for Patrick Kane. He is closing in on 1300 points, 500 goals, and even has his own bobblehead night.

Although Kane plays for the Detroit Red Wings now, he will always be a Chicago Blackhawks legend. Most of those goals and points came in a Chicago sweater so it is fair to enjoy his latest achievements despite him not being there anymore.
