Blackhawks Daily: Hockey Community Mourns Johnny Gaudreau
Friday was one of the hardest days in the history of the NHL. The small but tight hockey community mourned the loss of Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau. He and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were hit by a drunk driver while riding their bikes in New Jersey.
The news traveled fast once it became official after many hours of unverified rumors. It is one of those horrifying things that you just pray aren’t true.
This loss will be felt for a very long time. Hopefully, the Gaudreau family and everyone who knew and loved him will be able to find peace in their grieving for this impossible situation.
At National Hockey Now, the team (including Chicago Hockey Now) has come together with the hockey community to remember what was an extraordinary player and wonderful person. The nice things that people have said about him speak volumes about the type of player he was on the ice and the person he was away from the ice.
