Blackhawks Daily: September Brings Excitement: Jarvis Contract

Published

on

It is finally September. Regular season NHL hockey won’t be taking place in September but the prep for it will be. Training camp and the preseason is upon us.

It always brings excitement when this month rolls around. You start to feel the cold crisp in the air knowing that the greatest sport on earth is about to return.

For Chicago Blackhawks fans, that isn’t necessarily thinking about the Stanley Cup this year. It is about building toward that ultimate goal in the coming years.

Last year, we got to see Connor Bedard take his leap to the NHL after being one of the most successful prospects of all time. Now, this month, we will see him enter his first camp as an established NHL player.

Around the NHL, there is a lot of things going on as teams prep for training camp. One of the leading stories right now is the contract extension for Seth Jarvis and Carolina Hurricanes.

Jarvis has an eight-year deal worth $63.2 million. It will carry an average annual value of $7.9 million. It is a strange deal as it has differed money which lowers the cap hit. It could be one of those contracts that shifts the way teams do business until the league adds a rule to stop it.

As teams start to get into September, these are some interesting stories going on from around National Hockey Now:

The Chicago Blackhawks must get better goaltending in 2024-25.
