Blackhawks Daily: Prospect Showcase, Zadina signs in Switzerland
While it might be preseason hockey, the Chicago Blackhawks still get to take to the ice later this month for a game. For Chicago sports fans, early September is the time to focus on the Bears, but there still are reasons to be excited about the Hawks.
In just a few weeks the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase will be held from Sept. 13-15 in St. Louis. The showcase features young Blackhawks alongside the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild in a round-robin style series of exhibition games.
The Blackhawks play on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. against the Blues and on Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. against the Wild. This is the second year of the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase, last season was held in Minnesota and next year will be in Chicago.
Last year, Chicago’s roster included Connor Bedard, Martin Misiak, Nick Lardis, Marcel Marcel, Alex Pharand and Jiri Felcman, all from the 2023 NHL Draft. The showcase was the first real opportunity to see Bedard in action for Hawks fans last year. This year’s showcase should provide a similar buzz with the young prospects in the organization.
The big news around the league yesterday has to revolve around former Detroit Red Wing and San Jose Shark Filip Zadinia signing with Hockey Club Davos in the Swiss League. Zadina, 24, signed a two-year deal with Davos. He was drafted sixth overall by the Wings in 2018. In six seasons, he has played in 262 NHL games.
