Three reasons for excitement for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2024
The Chicago Blackhawks have reasons for excitement entering the 2024-25 NHL season. Bedard’s second NHL season, as well as a handful of big additions this summer should bring excitement to Hawks fans.
The 2023-24 NHL Season was about one big thing for Chicago — welcoming Connor Bedard to the league.
Bedard’s rookie season saw him win the Calder Trophy as the top rookie across the NHL. In 68 games, Bedard registered 22 goals and 39 assists good enough for 61 points during that time. As a rookie, Bedard was averaging 19:47 minutes of ice time a night, playing the same amount of minutes as any top line forward would in the league.
Bedard’s rookie season was a welcome party, and in 2024 he can really start to find his game. Now, let’s dive into some reasons for excitement entering the 2024-25 NHL season.
Kyle Davidson made some big additions this offseason.
Tyler Bertuzzi, Teuvo Teravainen, Alec Martinez, TJ Brodie, Laurent Brossoit and Ilya Mikheyev are all members of the Chicago Blackhawks. Bertuzzi and Teravainen very well could be on Bedard’s line this upcoming season.
Kyle Davidson went out and added some depth to the roster. Now Bedard will be able to play with a more competitive team from top to bottom. Last year’s team relied heavily on rookies and call ups from Rockford to put together a lineup due to injuries. This year, the roster has more depth to get through a season.
From Rockford to Chicago, the Blackhawks have plenty of future stars to watch.
Alex Vlasic stepped up last year. On a struggling team in Chicago, Vlasic was one of the best defenseman in the NHL this past season. Now, Hawks fans will get to see him continue to improve his game playing alongside Seth Jones.
Vlasic has played just 97 games up to this point. He only turned 23 this past June. Vlasic now has a full NHL season under his belt and now with the additions of Alec Martinez and TJ Brodie, Vlasic will be part of a blue line ready to compete.
With the additions Davidson made this offseason, Rockford should have plenty of future star players to keep an eye on this season. Potential players in Rockford this season include, Artyom Levshunov, Ethan Del Mastro, Frank Nazar and Colton Dach just to name a few.
From the Home Opener to the Winter Classic, there are plenty of games to get excited about.
Blackhawks fans have plenty of games to circle on the calendar. The last few years, tanking for the NHL Draft Lottery was something on the back of fans minds. Now, Chicago is valuing getting the most out of the roster, and setting up Bedard and other top young players up for success.
It’s not every year you get to watch a Blackhawks game at an iconic baseball park like Wrigley Field. Although the rest of the league might be looking for a different team in the Winter Classic instead of Chicago yet again, Blackhawks fans should be excited about the upcoming event.
