Blackhawks Daily: Paving Bedard’s Path; False Swayman Rumors?

Published

on

By now, the news of Nick Foligno being named the 35th captain in Chicago Blackhawks history has made its rounds. Most people have said that they like this decision as Foligno has all of the tools needed to be an NHL captain.

That includes previous captain experience as he was the captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets once upon a time. This young Chicago franchise is in good hands with him leading the way.

It will be fun to see Foligno pave the way for Connor Bedard to become captain eventually. He should also be a great mentor for the other young players besides Bedard. Players like Frank Nazar, Ethan Del Mastro, and Alex Vlasic amongst others will love having Foligno as their leader for a few years. Bedard and the youngsters will truly take over in a few years.

The Hawks did this right as they were entering camp. As other teams enter their camps, there is drama. Multiple young stars across the league still need contracts and haven’t reported to camp.

One GM even went off to the media about a false rumor spread. All of that and more can be read about at National Hockey Now.
