Blackhawks Daily: Matchup in Detroit, Patrick Kane, Reichel
With the Chicago Blackhawks heading to Detroit tonight for a matchup with the Red Wings, now is the perfect time to talk about an important former Hawk now with the Wings.
Tyler Motte? Erik Gustafsson or Olli Maatta maybe? Certainly its Alex DeBrincat, who’s trade from the Hawks gave the team Kevin Korchinski and Paul Ludwinski. No, today let’s talk about Patrick Kane.
Patrick Kane is not projected to play tonight when Chicago heads to Detroit. It was unlikely he would play in Chicago on Wednesday with few veterans usually playing on the road. Now, Blackhawks fans will have to wait till Nov. 6 to see Kane in Chicago.
Patrick Kane put up 47 points last season in 50 games with the Red Wings. After offseason surgery in 2023, Kane looked good this past season scoring 20 goals.
Earlier this week, the Blackhawks assigned a few players back to their junior teams. Of those assigned was Martin Misiak of the Erie Otters. Misiak was drafted 55th overall in 2023 – using the Blackhawks second round pick the team received from the New York Rangers for Patrick Kane.
Kane, 35, is signed through the end of this season with the Red Wings. While he might not be with the Hawks, it is interesting to see what will come next in his career.
One player who will be playing tonight is Lukas Reichel. Reichel did not play in the first preseason game, but is scheduled to take on a big role tonight in Detroit. For Hawks fans, Reichel might be the player to watch tonight.
