Blackhawks Game Day
Blackhawks give up three unanswered goals, lose 3-2 in OT
After leading 2-0 throughout most of the night, the Chicago Blackhawks gave up two third period goals and lost in overtime to the St. Louis Blues by a score of 3-2.
Blackhawks fall to 0-2-1 to start the 2024 NHL Preseason.
Luke Richardson’s roster came out flying on Saturday night in St. Louis. After a bad road loss against the Red Wings, the Hawks looked to be heading for their first preseason win of the year.
Two first period goals by Philipp Kurashev and Pat Maroon gave the Hawks an opportunity to head into the third period leading the Blues. But the Hawks fell apart late with the Blues out chancing Chicago and looking like the better team.
Highlights:
Philipp Kurashev gets the Blackhawks on the board with a great pass from Taylor Hall.

Pat Maroon scores his first goal as a Blackhawk with some net front presence on the power play.

Takeaways:
Taylor Hall and Philipp Kurashev both looked great tonight, Ilya Mikheyev also had a good game. With Hall missing so much time with injuries last year, it was nice to see him come in and dominate the game, finishing with three shots on goal and two assists.
The Hawks had a lot of positives tonight, take for example the strong play of Petr Mrazek in the net. Mrazek made 32 saves on 35 shots, good enough for a .914 save percentage. If Mrazek plays like this during the regular season he can help steal points for this team.
It’s the preseason for everybody – even the refs:
Goal? No goal? Take a look at the Blues’ Nathan Walker goal that tied the game in the third.

If this was the regular season with full replay reviews, I would have to say this is probably a no goal. You be the judge.
