The Chicago Blackhawks finally earned their first preseason win of the season by a final score of 6-2. It came in their final chance which happened to be the “Home Away From Home” game in Milwaukee at Fiserv Forum.

Blackhawks win and improve to 1-4-1 in preseason

The Chicago Blackhawks were in danger of losing every preseason game. However, this win against the Blues in Milwaukee will keep that from happening.

The Blackhawks called up a ton of AHL players to play in this game while they rested most of their starters. Connor Bedard played along with a few other regulars but the lineup was mostly loaded with the Rockford Ice Hogs.

Getting a win against the Blues in Milwaukee should do a lot for this team’s confidence heading into the NHL/AHL season. A lot of players should be feeling good following this dominant performance.

Highlights:

The Chicago Blackhawks opened the scoring when Ryan Donato scored a beautiful deflection goal off an Ethan Del Mastro shot.

Philipp Kurashev scored off a feed from Connor Bedard to make it 2-0.

Zach Sanford ended the first period with Chicago’s third goal of the game.

Nolan Allan scored early in the second period to make it 4-0. This was Connor Bedard’s second point of the night.

Frank Nazar scored a big goal which made it 5-1. This was the climax of an amazing performance that he should be proud of.

Colton Dach scored a big goal to end the scoring for Chicago. This power-play goal was assisted by Kurashev and Bedard.

Takeaways:

The Chicago Blackhawks have a lot of talent throughout the organization. Some good players are going to fill the NHL and AHL rosters. Calling up all of those youngsters and seeing them perform the way that they did is encouraging.

The Rockford Ice Hogs are going to have a good year

A lot of the players that put up big numbers in this game came from the AHL Rockford call-up. Guys like Frank Nazar, Colton Dach, Ethan Del Mastro, and Nolan Allan all played a role in the team winning one way or another.

Arvid Soderblom was also Chicago’s goalie and he sure will play a big part in Rockford’s success this year. He may play in the NHL a lot too but there will be big stints in the AHL.

The Blues largely used an AHL roster as well and the Hawks took care of them pretty dominantly. This is a great way to predict a big year for Rockford. The talent is all there.
