Blackhawks Game 47, Teravainen & Mrazek Face Old Team, Lines, Notes & How to Watch vs Hurricanes

Chicago Blackhawks (15-28-3, 33 pts) vs Carolina Hurricanes (27-16-3, 57 pts)

The Chicago Blackhawks are back in action tonight as they will host the Carolina Hurricanes for the first of two games in the next ten days. Both teams are coming off wins over the Vegas Golden Knights. Carolina has struggled on the road this season, losing eight of their last 10 games away from Raleigh.
The Blackhawks are trying to “stack wins.” They have only won consecutive games twice this season. They had back-to-back wins in early November before winning three in a row in mid-December. Chicago is 3-10-1 following a win this season.
“This is going to be the biggest thing for our group: stacking shifts, stacking periods, stacking games together,” interim head coach Anders Sorensen said. “In a game, you string together three or four shifts, then you’re feeling good about it. It’s the same with games.”
Tonight will be Teuvo Teravainen’s first game against his former team. He played 555 regular-season contests for the Hurricanes, scoring 138 goals and 415 points. He also had 19 goals and 39 points in 65 Stanley Cup playoff games.
“A lot of good memories,” Teravainen said this morning of his time in Carolina. “We had the same group of guys there for a long time.”
Frank Nazar scored his first NHL goal against the Hurricanes last April, and he will look for more success tonight as his new line with Connor Bedard and Tyler Bertuzzi has been clicking the last two games. Bertuzzi has been the hottest player on the team since Dec. 21. He has eight goals and 12 points in the last 13 games and two goals and two assists in the previous two.
Seth Jones, who scored the game-winning goal on Saturday, has a three-game point streak. Pat Maroon will miss tonight’s game. Sorensen said he is day-to-day with a back injury. Philipp Kurashev will take his place on the fourth line.
Petr Mrazek will get his second start in a row. He played 92 games with the Hurricanes over three seasons, earning 50 wins. He will be opposed by Frederik Anderson, who has been out since Oct. 26 with a knee injury.
