Morning Chirps: Possible Korchinski Call Up, Marchand’s Florida Debut Near

The Chicago Blackhawks will hit the practice ice later today after last night’s loss. They have another tough matchup as the Vegas Golden Knights come to town Friday night. There were only four games across the NHL last night, but the playoff races are tight and will come down to the final weekend.

- The Blackhawks held their own against the New Jersey Devils, but, in the end, the more talented team prevailed. The biggest talking point after the game was whether interim head coach Anders Sorensen should do more to interact with the officials when calls don’t go his way.

- Frank Seravalli hinted on the CHSN pregame show last night that Kevin Korchinski could get another run with the Blackhawks before the season ends.
- Sacha Boisvert’s exceptional freshman season ended last weekend, but that didn’t stop him from taking home another honor as he was named to the NCHC All-Tournament Team. He scored two goals and had four points in three tournament games, culminating his season with 18 goals and 32 points in 37 total contests.
- On this date in 2002, Phil Housley scored in a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators, becoming the first U.S.-born defenseman to reach 1,200 NHL points.

- It will be strange to see Brad Marchand wearing a Florida Panthers uniform. We haven’t seen it since he was acquired from the Boston Bruins on March 7. Per Florida Hockey Now, head coach Paul Maurice says Marchand’s team debut could come as early as Friday against the Utah Hockey Club.
- Ryan Reaves reported to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on Wednesday, but according to Nick Barden of The Hockey News, his playing status is “to be determined.”
- While I’m on the record for saying the Blackhawks need an experienced head coach, William James of Philly Hockey Now feels the Flyers should go after David Carle if they make a change after the season.
