Duncan Keith Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame
Three Stanley Cups. Two Norris Trophies. A Conn Smythe Trophy. Two Olympic Gold Medals. Three NHL All-Star Games. Average ice time of 24:40 over 17 NHL seasons.
When that is your resume, you’re a first-ballot Hockey Hall of Famer, which Duncan Keith is. The former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman will be part of the 2025 Induction Class. Joining Keith in Toronto next November will be Jennifer Botterhill, Zdeno Chara, Brianna Decker, Alexander Mogilny, Jack Parker, Daniele Sauvageau, and Joe Thornton.
Keith set the bar for defensemen with the Blackhawks and across the NHL. He was a minutes-eating warrior who played at an elite level in all three zones of the ice. His 2015 Stanley Cup playoff run, which ended with the Conn Smythe Trophy, was the stuff of legends. He averaged over 31 minutes a night and scored three goals and 21 points in 23 games. He led all players in the postseason with 18 assists and a plus-16 rating.
It is only a matter of time before Keith’s No. 2 hangs in the United Center rafters forever. All-time among Blackhawks defensemen, he is first in games played with 1,192. His 520 assists and 625 assists are second only to Doug Wilson. His 105 goals are third behind Wilson and Bob Murray.
Inducting Keith in his first year of eligibility was a no-brainer for the Hockey Hall of Fame!
