The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned three skaters and one goaltender to the AHL on Sunday morning, ahead of the Rockford IceHogs beginning training camp at the BMO Center at 11 a.m. CT.

Jackson Cates, Gavin Hayes, Martin Misiak, and Stanislav Berezhnoy are the latest wave of players to be cut from the Blackhawks training camp roster.

Cates, currently on an AHL deal with the IceHogs, has recorded 41 points (20G, 21A) in 114 games for Rockford over the past two seasons.

Hayes, a third-round selection by the Blackhawks in 2022, played his first professional season with the IceHogs in 2024-25. Hayes made a big impact in the Blackhawks’ comeback victory over the Blues on Saturday, scoring the game-tying goal in the third period and performing well overall on the fourth line.

Misiak, a second-round pick in 2023, spent the past two years in the OHL with the Erie Otters and has now made the leap to pro hockey. The Slovakian forward also played alongside Hayes on the fourth line against St. Louis, tallying three shots on goal and making a noticeable impact.

Berezhnoy signed as an undrafted free agent with the Blackhawks this past summer and made a strong first impression at the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase a few weeks ago. The 22-year-old Russian goaltender served as Spencer Knight’s backup on Saturday, and that’s the role he’ll likely have in the AHL this season. He’s expected to be Drew Commesso’s backup for the IceHogs.

None of these four players was contending for an NHL roster spot in camp.

The Blackhawks’ training camp roster is now down to 38 players, 21 forwards, 12 defensemen, and five goaltenders.
