Chicago Blackhawks, Landon Slaggert

Less than 24 hours after being assigned to the AHL, Ryan Greene has already rejoined the Chicago Blackhawks.

Greene was recalled ahead of practice in Florida on Monday morning, while forward Landon Slaggert (lower body) was placed on injured reserve.

Slaggert exited the Blackhawks’ preseason finale against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday after taking only one shift in the third period. The 2020 third-round pick did not return to the game, and he’s now set to miss the start of the 2025-26 season.

Here’s a look at Slaggert’s final shift on Saturday at the United Center.

During the Blackhawks’ final practice session before Tuesday’s season opener, Greene centered the fourth line and skated with captain Nick Foligno and Sam Lafferty.

Colton Dach was bumped up to the third line with Jason Dickinson and Ilya Mikheyev in place of Slaggert.

Lukas Reichel remained the lone extra forward and is expected to be healthy scratched against the Panthers. Assuming he’s still with the team, of course.

Additionally, the Blackhawks placed forward Joey Anderson (lower body) on the injured non-roster list. Anderson missed all six of the team’s preseason contests.
