Ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks’ matchup with the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, the team announced that captain Nick Foligno is taking a leave of absence as his daughter undergoes a follow-up surgery that’s related to her congenital heart disease.

Foligno’s daughter, Milana, was diagnosed with Moderate Tricuspid Regurgitation and Mitral Valve Arcade as an infant. All of Chicago and the entire Blackhawks’ fan base send their love and support and are hoping for a speedy recovery.

Family always comes first. Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Foligno family during this time.

The Blackhawks did not provide a comment on the expected length of Foligno’s absence.
