Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Tidbits

Chicago Hockey Now: ICYMI, Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno returned to the team on Monday after a leave of absence. His daughter, Milana, had a follow-up surgery for a congenital heart disease, and Nick provided a positive update on her status. Fantastic news. We’re all happy to hear that Milana is doing well.

More CHN: While the Blackhawks had the day off on Tuesday, it felt like a good time to discuss the recent success that several prospects are having early on in their respective seasons. Four of them are already playing professional hockey, just not in the NHL. Again, the future remains incredibly bright for the Blackhawks.

Here’s a look at the flight suits the Blackhawks’ prospects were rocking for their flight down to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Looking good, boys!

Tough news for Blackhawks prospect Paul Ludwinski. The 2022 second-round pick is expected to miss the rest of his second professional season with a left knee injury.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

The Athletic: The NHL has canceled a planned media day with players ahead of their trip to Italy for the 2026 Olympics. That was in place of the 2026 All-Star Weekend, which was set to be hosted by the New York Islanders. Now, the 2027 event will be held on Long Island.

NHLdotcom: Speaking of the Islanders, Matthew Schaefer picked up another two points in the team’s win over the still-winless San Jose Sharks. Schaefer continues to prove why he was the 2025 No. 1 overall draft pick, as he leads the Islanders’ defensemen in most major categories at just 18 years old.

Colorado Hockey Now: The Colorado Avalanche unveiled their throwback Quebec Nordiques jerseys they will wear seven times this upcoming season. They are spectacular.

Detroit Hockey Now: Patrick Kane is expected to miss the next two games with an injury, but there hasn’t been much of an update otherwise. Could the injury be worse than the Detroit Red Wings are leading on?

New Jersey Hockey Now: The New Jersey Devils picked up another win on Tuesday, and Jack Hughes led the charge again with his third-career hat trick.
