Blackhawks Game Day
Blackhawks vs. Canucks: Reichel Revenge Game, Preview, Lineups, & How To Watch
The Chicago Blackhawks (5-5-3) look for the first win of their current road trip when they face the Vancouver Canucks (7-7-0) at Rogers Arena on Wednesday night.
Wednesday’s game marks the first time that former Blackhawks first-round pick Lukas Reichel faces his old team after being traded to the Canucks on Oct. 24, which was less than two weeks ago. Through his first six games with Vancouver, Reichel has yet to record a point and has registered only seven shots on goal. The 23-year-old also has a shoddy minus-five rating and has won just 41.3 percent of his faceoffs. With the way these things go historically for the Blackhawks, Reichel will probably get that first point with his new club on Wednesday.
Last time out, the Blackhawks lost a third consecutive game to begin their road trip, falling 3-1 to the Seattle Kraken on Monday. Andre Burakovsky scored the lone goal for Chicago in his first trip back to Seattle since being traded this past summer. Burakovsky extended his point streak to four games with the goal, while Connor Bedard extended his point streak to five games with the primary assist. That was all the offense the Blackhawks could muster up, and they’ve now lost four of their past five games entering Vancouver.
The Canucks are coming off a 5-4 overtime win against the Nashville Predators in their most recent outing on Monday. Brock Boeser tallied two goals, including the overtime winner, and added an assist for a three-point game. Evander Kane also found the back of the net twice, while Elias Pettersson recorded two assists. Quinn Hughes returned to the lineup after missing the previous four games and played a team-high 28:04 of ice time. The win was much-needed for Vancouver, as they had dropped six of the previous seven contests.
Here’s everything to note before puck drops at 9:00 p.m. CT in Vancouver.
Blackhawks Regular Season Notes (Last Five Games)
- The Blackhawks’ five-game point streak ended in a sleepy 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Connor Bedard scored early to give Chicago the lead, but Los Angeles responded with three unanswered goals over the final two periods.
- Connor Bedard has taken his game to another level so far in his third NHL campaign. Bedard scored his first NHL hat trick & potted his 50th career goal to lead the Blackhawks to a 7-3 win over the Ottawa Senators.
- The young Blackhawks’ blue line was torched by the Jets’ top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Gabriel Vilardi in a 6-3 loss in Winnipeg. Jonathan Toews tallied an assist and got the win in his first matchup against the team he captained to three Stanley Cups.
- The first point of the six-game road trip was earned, but the Blackhawks lost for a second consecutive contest, falling 3-2 in overtime to the Edmonton Oilers. Connor Bedard extended his point streak, but Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were too much to handle.
- The losing streak has reached three games after a 3-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken. The Blackhawks outshot and outpossessed the Kraken, but they only had one shot beat Joey Daccord in net. Chicago remains winless during their current road trip.

With only 19 active skaters on the NHL roster, the Blackhawks will likely roll out the same 11F/7D lineup as they did in Seattle on Monday. Moore made his season debut on the third line with Donato and Mikheyev against the Kraken.
The Greene-Bedard-Burakovsky trio has been the most effective line for the Blackhawks recently, and they are expected to stick together again versus Vancouver. Not only is Burakovsky riding a four-game point streak, but he’s also found the back of the net in three straight games. Additionally, Burakovsky has a six-game point streak against the Canucks and leads all Blackhawks skaters with 14 assists and 17 points in 21 career games against them.
If there is a change to the lineup, it would likely be Dach drawing out for Lafferty. Dach received a season-low 8:19 of ice time on Monday and has played under 11 minutes in back-to-back games. Lafferty has played only three times in the opening 13 games of the season, including just once since the home opener back on Oct. 11. Perhaps this is a time for head coach Jeff Blashill to get him back in the lineup.

Projected Goaltending Matchup
Spencer Knight (4-3-2, 2.62 GAA, .913 Sv%, 0 SO) vs. Kevin Lankinen (2-3-0, .353 GAA, .885 Sv%, 0 SO)
Knight will likely make his tenth start of the season in net for the Blackhawks, as he was given the night off on Monday in Seattle. The 24-year-old netminder is 2-0-1 with a 1.26 GAA and .957 Sv% in three career appearances against the Canucks.
Lankinen was the backup for the Canucks in their first two games of November, which potentially sets him up to make his sixth start of the year against his former team. The Finnish netminder has had the Blackhawks’ number since leaving the franchise, with a 4-0-0 record, 1.96 GA, and .935 Sv% in four career starts against them.
2025-26 Results vs. Canucks
The Blackhawks blew a 2-0 lead and fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Canucks in the first meeting of the 2025-26 campaign at the United Center on Oct. 17. Vancouver has dominated Chicago in recent years, winning each of the last 11 meetings and 15 of the past 17, dating back to March 2019. Ouch.
