Happy Game Day! The Chicago Blackhawks finish up their four-game homestand and play the front end of a back-to-back against the Seattle Kraken on Thursday. It’s the second meeting of the season between Chicago and Seattle, with the Kraken winning 3-1 at Climate Pledge Arena back on Nov. 3. Be on the lookout for CHN’s Game Day Preview shortly after the Blackhawks wrap up the morning skate.

While the NHL club has been rattling off wins left and right, the same cannot be said for the Rockford IceHogs down in the AHL. Rockford suffered another lopsided loss on Wednesday night, and they’ve now dropped eight of their nine games in November.

Also in Blackhawks news, a former third-round pick is being considered by Team Canada for their 2026 World Junior Championship roster.

Around the league, the Winnipeg Jets signed their captain to an extension, the Boston Bruins provided an update on Charlie McAvoy, and another freak injury occurred with a Florida Panthers forward.

All that & more in the Daily!

Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Tidbits

Chicago Hockey Now: Connor Bedard has been among the hottest players in the NHL over the last few weeks. Bedard picked up his second hat trick in a 10-game stretch to lead the Blackhawks to a 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. Still only 20 years old, Bedard is now in the top five in the league in both goals and points.

More CHN: Bedard wasn’t the only player to shine in the Blackhawks’ fifth victory in their last six games. Oliver Moore had arguably his best showing as an NHLer, while Louis Crevier extended his point streak to four games. Here are 10 observations from Tuesday’s win at the United Center.

More CHN: While both Bedard and his good friend Macklin Celebrini are lighting up the NHL early this season, Team Canada is still reportedly concerned about naming either player to their 2026 Olympic roster. According to an insider, the lack of big-game experience for Bedard and Celebrini has the Canadians a bit nervous. Somehow, it still sounds like Bedard is a long shot to go to Italy.

In AHL news, November has NOT treated the Rockford IceHogs too kindly. With a 5-1 loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday, the IceHogs are now 1-6-2 in nine games this month. They’ve only scored more than two goals once during that stretch. Nick Lardis was once again out of the lineup, but it wasn’t due to the recent injury that he suffered. This time, Lardis didn’t play because of an illness. Hopefully, his return will help spark the IceHogs’ offense.

According to Mark Divver of NHL.com and New England Hockey Journal, Blackhawks’ 2024 third-round pick (No. 67 overall) John Mustard is under consideration for Canada’s 2026 World Junior Championship club. Mustard is off to an excellent start to his sophomore season of college hockey with Providence, as he’s recorded 12 points (7G, 5A) through 11 games. The Friars have been ranked inside the top-20 in the country since the beginning of the year.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

The Athletic: The Winnipeg Jets signed captain Adam Lowry to a five-year, $25 million contract extension on Tuesday. Lowry, who recently returned to the team after recovering from offseason hip surgery, is now signed on through the 2030-2031 season.

TSN: With both Tkachuk brothers currently being injured, they decided to start a podcast called “Wingmen”. On their latest episode, the younger brother, Brady, said the plan is for him to return to play for the Ottawa Senators around American Thanksgiving.

Boston Hockey Now: The anchor on the back end for the Boston Bruins, defenseman Charlie McAvoy recently underwent surgery after taking a shot to the face against the Montreal Canadiens. The Bruins announced that there is no timeline for McAvoy’s return at the moment.

Florida Hockey Now: What’s going on with all these freak accidents? After Jack Hughes was somehow injured during a team dinner, the Florida Panthers announced that forward Eetu Luostarinen suffered burns to his body from a grilling incident. Luostarinen will be out for a couple of weeks while he heals up. What in the world?

New Jersey Hockey Now: Are the New Jersey Devils having buyer’s remorse? The team signed goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a two-year contract earlier in November, but hr hasn’t looked like the same goaltender since. Will the Devils come to regret this decision?

Forever Blueshirts: The NHL unveiled the sweaters that will be worn by the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers when they face off at LoanDepot Park in Miami on Jan. 2. Check ’em out!
