Blackhawks Game Day
Blackhawks vs. Blues: Preview, Lines, Goalies, & How To Watch
The Chicago Blackhawks (17-18-7) look to extend their current winning streak to four games when they take on the St. Louis Blues (17-18-8) at the United Center late on Wednesday night.
It’s the third of four meetings between the two Central Division rivals this season, with the Blackhawks and Blues splitting the first two matchups. Chicago cruised to an 8-3 win in the first game at Enterprise Center on Oct. 15. St. Louis won the second tilt 3-2, also on home ice, on Dec. 12, which is when Hawks star forward Connor Bedard suffered an injury in the final second. Bedard has missed each of Chicago’s last 11 games and will not play again on Wednesday.
Last time out, the Blackhawks overcame a 2-1 third-period deficit and bested the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in overtime on Sunday. Tyler Bertuzzi was responsible for all three of the Hawks’ goals in the game, recording his second hat trick of the season. Bertuzzi also now leads the team and is tied for 12th in the NHL with 22 goals. Arvid Soderblom stopped 13 of 15 shots faced in his 100th career game to earn his fifth win of the year.
With three wins in a row and a four-game point streak, the Blackhawks are suddenly just four points back of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. There’s still plenty of ground to make up, however, with four teams ahead of them that also sit outside of the postseason picture. One of those clubs is the Blues.
St. Louis is coming off a 2-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens in their last time out on Saturday. Jonatan Berggren and Robert Thomas were the two goal scorers for the Blues in the game. Jordan Binnington stopped all 26 shots faced for his first shutout of the season.
The Blues are also unbeaten so far in 2026 (2-0-0), as they also bested the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in their first game of the New Year on Friday. With 42 points through 43 games, St. Louis is one point ahead of the Blackhawks in the standings and sits three points behind the San Jose Sharks for the final wildcard position.
Here’s everything to note before the puck drops at approximately 8:52 p.m. CT in Chicago.
Blackhawks Regular Season Notes (Last Five Games)
- The back end of a back-to-back continues to go horribly wrong for the Blackhawks. They’ve now been outscored 27-7 in four games when playing twice in as many nights after a 7-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
- The Blackhawks rallied from an early 2-0 deficit but couldn’t complete the comeback. Bo Horvat scored the lone shootout goal to lift the New York Islanders to a 3-2 win.
- What a start to 2026! Ilya Mikheyev scored twice to help the Blackhawks beat the Stars 4-3 at the United Center. It’s Chicago’s second win in five days over Dallas.
- Captain Nick Foligno comes up clutch with the first shootout goal of his NHL career to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 win in the Nation’s Capital. Teuvo Teravainen and Ryan Donato also scored in the victory against the Washington Capitals, while Spencer Knight stopped 32 of 34 shots.
- It was the Tyler Bertuzzi Show on Sunday, as he carried the Blackhawks to their third consecutive win with a hat trick. Bertuzzi scored all three goals, including the overtime winner, to overcome a late deficit and beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2.
