The Daily: Allan Scores Again but T-Birds Fall; Vegas Wins West
Chicago Blackhawks prospect and Seattle Thunderbirds defenseman Nolan Allan got his second goal in as many Memorial Cup games. Despite outshooting Quebec and dictating play for long stretches, Seattle couldn’t replicate a winning effort like the night before. The Remparts held on 3-1 and clinched a berth into the Memorial Cup Final. If Quebec defeats Peterborough today, the Thunderbirds Wednesday game against Kamloops will be a final tune-up before semi-final action on Friday.

Not only did he get his second goal in as many Memorial Cup games, Allan continues the streak for the Thunderbirds, with the goal marking the seventh consecutive postseason game for the Blackhawks trio notching a point. Kevin Korchinski had the secondary assist. This, however, marked the first time in 11 games where despite two prospects chipping in on the scoresheet, the Thunderbirds lost. But Allan scoring twice in as many games on one of Canada’s biggest stages is certainly another good sign for the Blackhawks prospect pool.
Vegas Wins the West
So much for any drama. The Golden Knights put the Dallas Stars season to rest in convincing fashion with a 6-0 victory. Vegas was so locked in, they stayed on the traditional side of things postgame. Vegas Hockey Now’s Dan Kingerski wonders about the good luck/bad luck superstition of touching the conference champion’s trophy. The Golden Knights treated it as if it had the plague–Florida celebrated the other way.
Guess we’ll all find out in a few weeks who was “right.”
Blackhawks In Case You Missed It
- Patrick Kane’s run with the Blackhawks came to an end when he was dealt to the Rangers. His number will hang in the rafters. He’ll go down as one of the best in franchise history. But it was still tough for Blackhawks fans to watch when it was all over.
- Lukas Reichel looks ready for the full time role in Chicago he’s been playing his way to.
- Tying it into a comparison from the classic movie The Godfather, the Blackhawks needed a war time consigliere as their chances at a dynasty started slipping away.
