The Daily: Ryan O’Reilly: Who Says We Can’t Be a Contender?

Published

Don’t tell Ryan O’Reilly he’s there for a rebuild. The new Nashville Predators forward believes that the team can absolutely contend and even win the Stanley Cup.

“We have great young pieces. Why can’t we contend?” O’Reilly said.  “Why can’t we win? It’s a long year, but preparing the right way in the summer — doing things the right way going into camp — we start building a foundation and we keep adding to it.”

O’Reilly signed a four-year deal with Nashville and believes they’re right in the thick of having a team who could bring the Cup to Music City. His brother Cal also signed an AHL contract with the team.

The Stanley Cup was spotted on Broadway during the NHL Draft.

Maybe it’ll happen again if they’re indeed as close as Ryan O’Reilly thinks they are.
