Blackhawks Daily: Bruins Win Epic Game 7; IceHogs Face Elimination
The Boston Bruins looked down and potentially out after a William Nylander goal finally broke a scoreless tie midway through the third period. Not only did the Bruins answer–they went on to take the series in overtime.
It was a great game that had tons of chances but Jeremy Swayman stole the game for the Bruins. Auston Matthews returned for Game 7 by making an amazing pass to feed Nylander (who missed the first three games of this series).
81 seconds later, however, the Bruins tied it up and that would be it for scoring until overtime. David Pastrnak was the hero for Boston after taking advantage of a great dump-in by Hampus Lindholm (who tied the game in regulation). It was a fantastic game and the Bruins have another game seven win over the Leafs.
Another team facing an elimination game are the Rockford IceHogs, who take on the Grand Rapids Griffins at the BMO Center at 4pm. The Hogs fell Friday night after rallying from a deficit. Drew Commesso was solid in the game but his efforts weren’t enough despite 38 saves. Tonight will be another stiff test.
Blackhawks In Case You Missed It
- The Chicago Blackhawks have what they hope is a budding star in Lukas Reichel. He needs to find consistency in the NHL with all of that talent.
- Once again, the Chicago Blackhawks are shown something good by Drew Commesso. He may become a special goalie one day.
- The Chicago Blackhawks used Jarred Tinordi in a depth-role this season. He was able to eat some minutes for them in a tough year.
