Back in the Fall, Chicago Hockey Now ranked the top 10 prospects in the Chicago Blackhawks pipeline. Those rankings had Connor Bedard sitting at the top of the list–while only being in the organization for three months. Now we’ll wrap up the final few players going to #9 with Colton Dach. (Ethan Del Mastro, our eighth ranked preseason prospect, you can find when the separate write up on him).

So…how’s it going?

Injury reared its ugly head again, stunting what was rounding out into a great season. It won’t change the trajectory nor will it alter the organization’s outlook on him. While injury has slowed him before, he’s always bounced back.

Ranking Higher, Lower, Holding, or Graduated?

Holding. He’ll slide up with the graduation of some of the other players but stay in the same order.

Now and Later: Where Does Colton Dach Fit In the Grand Scheme of Things?

Dach hasn’t played in over a month, and based on how he progresses with his concussion, will be welcomed back with open arms when he is able to play again.

“He’s been impressive,” head coach Anders Sorensen said. “I think he’s gotten better and better since the start of the year. It takes time getting used to the pro game. But in December, he was probably our best forward. He’s got a big frame to him, really crafty hands around the net, he’s really good on the back wall, and able to get away from pressure and just attack. Hopefully he’ll pick right up where he left off when he gets back.”

Dach was complimented by Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson complimented Dach’s game turning the preseason tilt as well. It’s a matter of time before Dach is in Chicago. Some better luck with injuries, and the continued consistent play will potentially have him on the lineup card next October.
