Blackhawks Daily: Chicago’s National TV Schedule; Other Marquee Matchups
The Chicago Blackhawks and the rest of the NHL, along with TNT and ESPN, have revealed the National TV schedule in the U.S. Tons of incredible matchups will be seen by a national audience.
The Blackhawks will appear on 15 of these national broadcasts. That is a large amount of national attention for a team that came in 31st place last year. The attention that the league wants on Connor Bedard is very apparent.
The noticeable thing is that the league wants people from around the country to see Bedard go against other top players around the league. We’ll see him go up (on National TV) against other wonderful first-overall picks like Steven Stamkos, Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, Alexis Lafreniere, Nathan MacKinnon, Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Sidney Crosby.
There are also plenty of rivalry games like the Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings, and the Winter Classic against the St. Louis Blues at Wrigley Field. That’s a lot of great hockey for the nation to see on a national broadcast.
The fact that the NHL and its broadcast partners see the Chicago Blackhawks in this light is great news. They believe that the team will be exciting enough to feature 15 times against other top teams from the league. Even though they aren’t likely going to be a playoff team, they still could be incredibly exciting.
There are lots of other great national games this year that won’t feature the Chicago Blackhawks. National Hockey Now has breakdowns of the national TV broadcast schedule for teams like the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils, The league is doing a great job of marketing the teams that have the most exciting players.
