News: Chicago Sports Network announces Blackhawks TV Crew
For a lot of Blackhawks fans, watching the game from home is the way they watch their team all season long. The TV studio crew is a major part of that. On Oct. 1, the Blackhawks pre- and post-game show will head to the Chicago Sports Network, the new home for the Blackhawks.
With less then a month till the start of the NHL season, the network announced its TV Studio crew for the Blackhawks. The group includes, Pat Boyle, Tony Granato and Caley Chelios.
Boyle has been the long standing primary anchor on NBC Sports Chicago for 20 years. Boyle was one of the first names announced to be joining the network after its introduction. Granato had previously worked with NBC in the studio. It is nice to see his return with the new network, as is the case with Chelios.
New this season, Chicago Sports Network will have a studio within the United Center. According to a news release from the Blackhawks, the Network, is completing construction on a state-of-the-art studio located in the United Center atrium that will feature a retractable wall. The innovative design allows fans to interact directly with live broadcasts and their favorite on-air talent, creating a different look, feel and delivery than traditional shows alongside an engaging in-person gameday experience. Â
That definitely is a unique feature that will add to the game day experience for fans. One memorable moment from the 2010s was being able to go out into the concourse area and see Boyle and Steve Konroyd during the intermission broadcast.
The network announced earlier this year that NHL Broadcaster Rick Ball would take over as the play by play voice of the Blackhawks. He will work alongside Darren Pang in the booth. The network also announced Chelios will serve as the backup color analyst in the booth when Pang is called for national broadcasting duties. \
