Blackhawks Daily: Foligno Introduced As Captain; Seider Signs

Published

on

Earlier in the week, the Chicago Blackhawks named Nick Foligno to be the 35th captain in franchise history. He follows Jonathan Toews who was one of the best captains in the history of the NHL.

On Thursday, right as training camp got going, the Hawks held a press conference to introduce Foligno as the captain of the team. It was a great moment for him, his family, and the franchise starving to win hockey games regularly once again. Their new captain will be a key to them getting to that point.

Introducing a captain in the post-Toews era is a bit surreal. The dynasty years were amazing for them but they are firmly onto the next era. Only good can come from this event as Foligno is more than fit for the job.

Meanwhile, the actual hockey part of camp began as well. There was some hockey being played at Fith Third Arena as the Blackhawks hit the ground running with their scrimmages right out of the gate. We saw some of their best players get going as they are preparing for a big year in their development as a franchise.
