The Daily: Coyotes Carry On; Thunderbirds Game Away from Title

Published

on

The Arizona Coyotes aren’t leaving the desert without a fight. Not only will they stay another season, but conversations have continued to find a permanent solution that keeps them in Arizona.

Tempe seems out at this point, but what about Phoenix? The Coyotes have certainly had their struggles since relocating from Winnipeg 26 years ago. But uprooting a team, no matter how attractive an offer from another city, is a brutal endeavor. It affects the lives of all of those employed and from a financial standpoint, is rather expensive. The Coyotes will fight to see another day and perhaps the loss in Tempe will lead to something new that keeps the Coyotes where they are.

Thunderbirds Take Commanding 3-1 Lead; Korchinski Scores

The Blackhawks prospects played a big role in Seattle’s 4-2 win Wednesday night over Winnipeg, granting them a 3-1 lead in the series. Kevin Korchinski evened up the game with a wrister, thanks to a screen from Colton Dach. Seattle would score again but Winnipeg would tie it mid-way through the second. But the Thunderbirds would bury one to take the lead nearly eight minutes into the third period. An empty netter sealed it and now Thunderbirds are just a game away from being crowned champions of the Western Hockey League.
