The Daily: Veleno Stomp Seen Round the World Gets Him Booted

The Detroit Red Wings Joe Veleno stomped Nino Niederreiter against the boards during the Canada – Switzerland game. Now the IIHF stomped out the rest of Veleno’s tournament.

Veleno is considered one of the more mild mannered players on Detroit’s team and this certainly caught many of his fans and even analysts by surprise. Detroit Hockey Now’s Bob Duff writes about the the penalty was missed by refs at the time and that Niederreiter was penalized for retaliation. Regardless, Veleno is done at the Worlds.
Vegas Wins To Take 2-0 Lead in West Final
It took less than a minute into overtime, but the Vegas Golden Knights took a commanding 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Final. Chandler Stevenson played the hero and the Golden Knights are just a pair of games from their second Stanley Cup Final appearance in six seasons. Vegas Hockey Now’s Dan Kingerski writes that though it wasn’t Vegas’ best game, they still got what they needed when it mattered most.
