The Blackhawks were buried into an early 4-0 hole and couldn’t dig themselves out, falling 5-0 to the Los Angeles Kings Friday night.

Scouting the Opponent & Miscellaneous Musings

In the “Slack for Mack” sweepstakes, it’s a matchup of the two teams with the best chance of getting the best lottery odds to draft him tonight.

The Blackhawks lost to a very good Kings team on Friday but they will not facing a team of the same caliber tonight. Don’t be surprised if the Hawks find their game again, as the Sharks have sold every piece off they could in a clear attempt to get the best odds at drafting Celebrini.

So the Blackhawks, who put up seven goals on Arizona and Anaheim likely have one of their best shots to do it again tonight. Connor Bedard, Philipp Kurashev, and Nick Foligno have been great together, and lit up the Ducks at a ridiculous rate nearly a week ago.

The Hawks also have a chance to shake off the performance from Friday that was practically a stinker from the start. It of course will bring some cognitive dissonance into the argument of what should fans be rooting for tonight.

It’s important, then, to remind that the Blackhawks did not have the top odds last year to get Bedard, and still managed to do so. At this rate, it’s really up to the individual fan as to what they’re rooting for. The players will always play for pride and the W.

Finally, this is one of the few games I will not be covering as my family beckons. I will have an analysis of things for the morning after a re-watch. Enjoy the game!
