Scouting the Opponent, Storylines & Miscellaneous Musings
The Blackhawks have a chance to continue their spoiler role as their next slate of games have teams all jockeying for playoff position. That’s the fun part.
Frank Nazar is off to the Frozen Four, so a chance at seeing him in a Hawks jersey this season seems unlikely. But an entry-level deal seems more likely–potentially letting him start out in the AHL playoffs with the Rockford IceHogs.
Back in Chicago, Landon Slaggert seeks his first goal while Connor Bedard continues to chase Blackhawks history with assists and points during rookie campaigns.
Today is an interesting test since the Stars flying on eight-game winning streak and can put a little more distance between them and the Avalanche in a tight division race. A win today gives Dallas a five-point cushion with five games to go, giving the Stars the piece of mind that a couple more victories secures the top spot in the Central.
Today’s game, then, proves to be a decent, playoff like atmosphere for the team. While their season has long been over in terms of postseason play, it’s a chance for guys trying to stand out for next year’s roster. There should be a decent buzz because of this, as the Hawks try to cool off the playoff bound Stars on an eight-game heater.
