Blackhawks Gameday #29: Sweepless in Seattle?

Published

on

The Blackhawks (9-18-1) are trying to get back on the right path after falling 4-1 to Edmonton on Tuesday night. They’ll take on the Seattle Kraken, who they knocked off 4-3 back on November 28. Puck drop is for 9pm CST.

Previously on Blackhawks Hockey:

The Blackhawks fought valiantly against an Edmonton team when they were shorthanded, especially on the blueline. Even though they got the opening goal, Chicago fell 4-1 and lost its second consecutive game.

And now, a bit (more) on the Kraken

The Kraken are 9-14-7 and certainly going the opposite direction of where most people had them in the standings. They finally righted the ship with a 4-0 win over the Florida Panthers, but were riding an eight-game losing streak. Now they’re trying to make it two in a row after the Blackhawks helped push them into the hole of that losing streak two weeks ago.

Miscellaneous Musings and Final Verdict

The Blackhawks are dealing with a little bit of sickness which is hitting the locker room which is already short handed without Seth Jones and Kevin Korchinski. Chicago is in a tough enough spot already, but looking to get back on the winning side of things dropping their last two.

They’ll also try to avoid being swept on this little road trip, but that might be harder as the team is wobbling a bit with injury and sickness taking hold. In their last eight games, the Blackhawks have scored just one goal in five different games. Only one led to victory.

It’s hardly a ringing endorsement for victory tonight but if there’s anything seen from the Blackhawks this season, sans a pair of games, it’s that they’re scrappy.
