Blackhawks Daily: A Brawl in the Big Apple

Published

on

The Chicago Blackhawks were idle on Wednesday night but there were plenty of incredible hockey games for fans to watch instead. None can compare to the game that the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers played. At the opening faceoff, some old scores needed to be settled. Matt Rempe of the New York Rangers injured a couple of New Jersey Devils players over the last two times they played.

The New Jersey Devils put Kurtis McDermid into their lineup so he can fight Rempe. When these two dropped the mitts on the opening faceoff, every skater on the ice had someone to fight. It was a full-blown line brawl.

We don’t see things like this in the NHL anymore but New Jersey and New York had a little old-school night at Madison Square Garden. Rempe has been running wild around the NHL and teams are starting to grow tired of his antics. This is how the Devils felt they needed to police the situation.

There was a hockey game played after the brawl. The score went back and forth as each team had a lead throughout the game. However, the Rangers pulled out a 4-3 win in what will go down as one of the most memorable games of the 2023-24 NHL season.

Blackhawks In Case You Missed It

  • Connor Bedard is climbing up the Blackhawks’ rookie ranks and he still has seven games left to go in his first NHL season.
  • There is an argument to be made for Petr Mrazek as the 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks MVP. Hopefully, he can continue to play like this for the duration of his contract.
  • The Chicago Blackhawks made a big move for their rebuild as they got Nick Lardis locked into an entry-level contract.

Hockey Now Playoff Focus

  • Boston Hockey Now: The Boston Bruins‘ playoff push continued with a big win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.
  • Vegas Hockey Now: The Vegas Golden Knights are going to be getting Tomas Hertl back right in time for the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
  • Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Pittsburgh Penguins have earned points in six straight games and are making a big push for the postseason.
  • Colorado Hockey Now: The Colorado Avalanche should be getting Valeri Nichuskin back before the end of the season. They need him to make a Stanley Cup run.
