The Daily: Preseason-palooza; Blackhawks Camp Updates

Published

on

On one end of the league, a few teams have played a pair of games. The other, like the Chicago Blackhawks, they have yet to faceoff against another squad. The anticipation is rising to see Connor Bedard in game action, but it might actually be Lukas Reichel fans want to watch to see just in fact what he could mean to the team this season.

The Detroit Red Wings are starting with its big guns right off the bat. The Colorado Avalanche are a couple games in and have seen great returns from one of its top prospects. Teams chasing the Cup might have prospects who are just running out of time in trying to help out on that run.

Of course the Blackhawks are in a unique spot where they’re leaning on veterans to help bring along the rookies who are prime to make the team–and carry the organization into future contention. There’s definitely buzz around Bedard, but Kevin Korchinski and Wyatt Kaiser continue to turn heads. Be it the blue line or upfront, there’s going to be a lot to watch over the next week and a half.

Blackhawks in Case You Missed It

  • The Blackhawks had a heck of a time scoring goals last season–and several seasons before that. A look back at it.
  • Speaking of the goal scoring, maybe a more selfish Lukas Reichel can help contribute by shooting more instead of passing first. Come to think of it, is it really selfish if it’s helping the Blackhawks?

Colorado Hockey Now: Oskar Olausson is getting rave reviews from Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar. Maybe the 20-year-old will stick out enough that he earns a shot on the opening night roster.

Detroit Hockey Now: All eyes are on Detroit Red Wings winger Lucas Raymond, who has shown up “thicker” and bigger in a pivotal year for the 2020 fourth overall pick. He’ll start on the top line against Pittsburgh, a chance to see if that strength has indeed transferred to the ice.

Nashville Hockey Now: Tanner Molendyk may be doing for the Nashville Predators what many of the Blackhawks prospects are doing for Chicago–giving doses of hope for the future.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Time may be running out for Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Radim Zohorna to make the roster.
