Blackhawks Daily: NHL Draft Lottery Tonight; Bruins Win

Published

on

Happy 2024 NHL Draft Lottery Day to all of those who are a fan of the bottom third in the NHL. The Chicago Blackhawks certainly have their shot at not only winning the Lottery, but going back-to-back in the Draft.

Another win, though, limits opportunities in the future drafts–but that’s moot. The Blackhawks getting Macklin Celebrini means the rebuild goes into full pivot. It shouldn’t be rushed, but getting better to the tune of at least eight more regulation wins with elite–and young talent–down the middle.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves–yet.

Elsewhere in the NHL, the second round is beginning for all of the teams that advanced out of the first round. On Monday night, it was the Boston Bruins paying a visit to the Florida Panthers.

Boston let Florida take the top spot in the Atlantic Division over the final week of the season. Ultimately, it worked out for both as they each won their first-round matchups and ended up meeting anyway.

With the way that the Panthers rolled through the Lightning and how they finished the season, a lot of folks figured they’d win this series with ease. They’ve been off for a couple of days and the Bruins emptied the tank to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in game seven.

Things don’t always go the way that you’d think. The Boston Bruins went down 1-0 in this game and it seemed like Florida may run away with it right there. However, the Bruins scored five unanswered goals to take it 5-1. They now have a 1-0 series lead and home-ice advantage.

The scoring was spread out as five different Boston Bruins had goals. At the end of the game, it was a stunning but convincing win for the Bruins.

Blackhawks In Case You Missed It

Oh, it’ll be twice as nice if the Blackhawks win the NHL Draft Lottery but it will come with a price that influences both the now–and the future.

The Chicago Blackhawks have a special player to be excited about with Drew Commesso coming along in Rockford and may have a gem in Ethan Del Mastro, too.

Petr Mrazek is going to be a big piece of the Chicago Blackhawks over the next two seasons.

Lukas Reichel and the Rockford IceHogs may have lost their series to the Grand Rapids Griffins. But they sure as heck saw some positive strides for the future–especially from Reichel.
