Blackhawks Daily: Oilers Sink Further; Thanksgiving Thoughts

Published

on

I’m going to do it every time to put things into context, especially after the Chicago Blackhawks lost a clunker of a game last night. But when the rebuild, like a cold and dreary winter, feels like it’s never going to end–well, there’s always the case of the Edmonton Oilers.

The Oilers are a staggering 10 points behind the final Wild Card spot, and just one point ahead of the Blackhawks in the overall standings. That’s right. A point. The Oilers, who have two of the game’s biggest superstars could technically be in the NHL lottery for the top overall pick–with a high chance of getting it. The Oilers were considered Stanley Cup contenders and have looked anything but that this season. They’ve already made a coaching change–which was essentially shuffling the chairs on the deck of the Titanic.

It’s looking more and more like they’ll need to make some hard decisions if things continue to go as they will. For a team that seemed in a perpetual rebuild and now can’t even contend properly–well–it’s not much to be thankful for.

But if we’re being thankful, I’d like to express my gratitude to those who have made CHN a home to read. Those who take the time to comment, respond, or share with someone else, thank you from the bottom of my heart. The goal is to make this a full time endeavor and there will be some new ways of reporting hitting CHN soon.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
