In one of the most inspired efforts of the season, the Blackhawks knocked off the Calgary Flames 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. Colin Blackwell potted a pair and Petr Mrazek was his usual, reliable self.

Scouting the Opponent and Miscellaneous Musings

Putting my hockey hat on for a moment while removing the objective one, Sunday’s game may have been one of my favorites because Blackwell’s attitude is the type of hockey player I’ve always liked. Don’t take it for granted, kick butt, give everything you’ve got, and good things happen. His two goals, and the energy the team and the players fed off of was contagious on Sunday.

Can tonight be the same?

The Blackhawks come in with some players healing–Taylor Raddysh and Joey Anderson to name a few. Seth Jones is getting closer, which will be a boost on the blue line.

But on a team that’s been patchwork because of all the injuries, Sunday’s effort was one that inspires because not only were they riding a five-game losing streak, but they were icing a team that could have been mistaken for an AHL squad.

Sure, it’s not easy to read that, but it’s the truth. The Blackhawks have made trades, utilized the waiver wire, and called up who they have to in order to get the job while the wounded Hawks heal. Now, the Oilers are a heck of a lot more of threat as Connor McDavid is on an absolute tear right now.

But heck, they pulled it off once before. Why not again?
