Blackhawks Daily: 2024-25 NHL Regular Season Kicks Off

Tonight is the night. After a long preseason, the Chicago Blackhawks will finally play a game that matters for something more than just earning a roster spot or building chemistry. Tonight – the grind of an 82 game NHL Season begins, with two points on the line in Utah.
Just before the start of the season, the Blackhawks announced the team’s opening night roster ready to battle in the Central Division to begin the season. The Blackhawks are set to carry 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies.
Forwards: Joey Anderson, Andreas Athanasiou, Connor Bedard, Tyler Bertuzzi, Jason Dickinson, Ryan Donato, Nick Foligno, Taylor Hall, Philipp Kurashev, Pat Maroon, Ilya Mikheyev, Lukas Reichel, Craig Smith and Teuvo Teravainen
Defensemen: Nolan Allan, TJ Brodie, Seth Jones, Alec Martinez, Connor Murphy, Isaak Phillips and Alex Vlasic
Goaltenders: Petr Mrazek and Arvid Soderblom
The Hawks announced defenseman Wyatt Kaiser (illness) will begin the season on injured reserve retroactive to Sept. 19, while defenseman Artyom Levshunov (right foot) and goaltender Laurent Brossoit (right knee) will start the season with an injured/non-roster designation.
Getting Brossoit back cannot come soon enough. The new netminder in Chicago is set to play a big role helping Mrazek handle the workload in Chicago.
